Canopic Vases are quest items in Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. Each of them holds a fragment of Tutankhamen's soul and allow him to come back to "life" for shorts amount of time.

History Edit

The Canopic Vases were filled with Tutankhamen's soul during the ceremony at the Mysterious Location. Since Sphinx disrupted it, the vases were scattered when they were sucked through the giant amulet. While on his quest, Sphinx gathered them and gave them to Tutankhamen via Bas-Ket.

Trivia Edit

  • The vases seem to have been made out of clay and featured a pharaoh's head sculpted at the top.
  • The are a total of six in the game.
    • The five which are actively used quite possibly contain one of the five portions of the Egyptian soul: Ba (personality), Ib (heart which lets his heart beat again), Ren (True name), Sheut (Shadow or legacy), and Ka (Life Spark). The sixth presumably would have returned his human form.
      • The fifth one is believed to contain his life force (returning his soul to become a solid whole) because it did not wear off when the previous four did, allowing him to remain permanently semi-alive.
  • In real life, canopic jars are used in the mummification process, containing the stomach, lungs, intestines, and liver of the deceased, and were placed in the tomb with their owner.
  • The lids of the jars were often shaped in the likeness of Egyptian gods, most notably the four sons of Horus: Hapi, Duamutef, Imsety, and Qebehsenuef.
