- "Don't worry Tutankhamen, there must be another way to change you back. Perhaps other worlds will hold the key to your salvation. We will help you find the answer..."
- ―Imhotep to Tutankhamen
Imhotep is a protagonist in Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.
Imhotep was a powerful light magician. He sent two of his apprentices, Sphinx and Horus, out to find the Blade of Osiris, so they could defeat Set. After the loss of Horus, Sphinx obtained the sword, and Imhotep ordered him to make his way to the Portal God Chamber in order to get home. After the Eye of Ra disrupts the mission, Imhotep then resides at Sun Shrine Island.
Traits and Appearance Edit
Imhotep appeared to be a purple ape of some kind (likely a baboon). He had great wisdom and self control. It is assumed that he was Sphinx's mentor.
He sported a white mane (topped with a cobra decoration), beard and mustache.
His attire consisted of an orange collar draped over his shoulders and long ankle-length robes. He seemed to be fond of the color orange, as his sandals were also that color. He towered over nearly every other character, even though he stood slightly hunched over from old age.
Imhotep played the role of a traditional mentor. He was wise, patient, and very much concerned for the well-being of his apprentices and the fate of the world. He was extremely active in the fight against Set. Without his guidance and magical prowess, Sphinx and Tutankhamen would have never succeeded in their respective goals and Bas-ket would not have been brought into existence.
If there is an issue, Imhotep wastes no time in coming up with a solution, showing that even in his old age, his mind is still as sharp as ever. He also had the ability to sense great potential in people, entrusting the fate of the world to two young and inexperienced apprentices.
When Horus betrayed his trust, he displayed a strong sense of regret, however, he did not let his personal feelings cloud his judgement. He realized that Horus was untrustworthy and irredeemable quite early on, and his concerns were further proven true when he attempted to kill Sphinx in a rather brutal manner.
- Imhotep, in real history, was a healer, engineer and architect in Egypt. He reportedly invented the step pyramid for Pharaoh Menes, and after his death became a god of medicine and healing.
- It appears that he is the same species as the Pharaoh of Heliopolis.
- He possesses the ability to levitate, receive visions, conjure images of objects, and teleport to Sphinx's side with ease, showing that he is extremely well-versed in magic.
