"I need to talk to you about this letter, but not here. Someone might be listening. Meet me outside the palace later. There are some things that you need to know...and please, my dear Tutankhamen, watch your back!"
―Nefertiti to Tutankhamen, after he retrieves her letter

Nefertiti is a character in Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.

Biography[]

Luxor Palace[]

Lady Nefertiti is a member of the nobility, and engaged to Tutankhamen. She had told the Maid that she would like to speak with him in the Courtyard. Menes tries to talk Nefertiti out of marrying him before Tutankhamen comes outside, suggesting that his brother, Akhenaten (at that time Set in disguise), might be a better match. Menes leaves before he comes out, but drops a letter on the ground. The letter blows away, and Nefertiti asks Tut to retrieve it, asking to meet him in private to discuss its contents and warning him to watch his back.

Mysterious Location[]

While Menes performs the ceremony to obtain Tutankhamen's soul for Set, Nefertiti is forced to witness it in despair. After Sphinx interrupts the ceremony and rescues her from a trio of Skull Worshippers, she thanks him, recognizing his bravery and strength and asking him to restore Tutankhamen to life. She gives him a Canopic Vase and the Abydos Portal Amulet. Imhotep appears before them and urges Sphinx away, saying he will help Nefertiti to escape. She is not seen again.

Traits and Appearance[]

Nefertiti has short red-orange hair and wears a tight white, ankle length dress with pleats. She wears gold jewelry on her body, hair, and arms, and brown leather boots. She is about as tall as Tutankhamen and slightly taller than Sphinx.

Nefertiti is very perceptive of the subtleties of palace life, sensing when to be secretive and when not to trust others in the palace. When Menes tries to convince her to marry Akhenaten instead of Tutankhamen, she doesn't dismiss him verbally, merely giving a slight shake of the head.

She is very protective of Tutankhamen, and when he is killed, she is beside herself with grief and places her hope in Sphinx, a complete stranger, to return her beloved to her.

Connection with Ancient Egypt[]

The real Nefertiti was Tutankhamen's stepmother and was married to Akhenaten.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being portrayed as an important character both in-game and in promotional material, she does not appear again after Sphinx leaves her in Imhotep's care.
