The Piranha is a missable monster in Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.

Description[]

"The way they walk may look comical, but their bite certainly isn't. Vicious on land and in water...Their unique metabolism makes them impervious to cold conditions."
Book of Sphinx
"Fast-eating carnivorous fish."
Monster Inspector
"A vicious fish native to a strange and far off land, those found on this continent have the voracious appetite of their overseas counterparts, but are also amphibious. Similar to rats; in recent years the Piranha has become an increasing hazard in larger towns."
Abydos Museum

Traits, Appearance, and Abilities[]

The Piranha is a yellow fish similar to the kind found in the Amazon River; however, this kind has legs and feet that resemble a chicken's. They are identical to the Exo-Piranha, except weaker and yellow in color.

Strategy for Sphinx[]

Like the Exo-Piranha, simply hit it with the Blade of Osiris. Getting a hit in can be tricky because their small size makes them easy to miss and they are surprisingly fast. Instead of rushing in, make sure you place yourself around the back or the sides of the Piranha before launching an attack. They travel quickly between the platforms in the canal, so wait for them to come back to your direction to avoid a surprise attack. Also, be sure to capture one for the Abydos Museum quest, as they will not respawn again.

Trivia[]

  • The Piranha is one of the few monsters that cannot be sold to Montu at Montu's Monster Shop (the others being the Exo-Piranha, Goofy Lizard, and Chihuahua). This is because the Mayor of Abydos put a ban on them because of the unfortunate incident that took place a year before the game's events, claiming he "couldn't sit down for weeks".
  • The Piranha is native to South America; this could be the "far off land" mentioned in the Museum's description.
